Who We Are

Esoteric Viking is a personal Norse cosmological reading service operated as a solo business. We deliver a free Birth Rune reading and a Monthly Norse Fate Story subscription to readers in the United States, Brazil, and internationally.

When this policy refers to "we," "us," or "our," it means Esoteric Viking and its operator. When it refers to "you," it means any person who visits our website, uses our Birth Rune Calculator, or subscribes to our Monthly Norse Fate Story.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to deliver your reading and communicate with you about your subscription.

• Birthdate (day, month, year) — Required to calculate your Viking sign and generate your personal reading. We do not collect birth time or birth location.
• First name — Optional. If provided, it is used to personalize your reading and correspondence. You may leave this field empty.
• Email address — Required to deliver your free reading and, for subscribers, your monthly saga. Your email is the primary identifier for your account.
• Payment information — For subscribers only. Payment details (card number, billing address) are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our servers.

We also collect standard technical information that your browser or device sends automatically when you visit our website — including IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is collected through Google Analytics 4 and used only to understand how our website is used in aggregate.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes only:

• To calculate and deliver your free Birth Rune reading
• To send the email sequence that introduces the Monthly Norse Fate Story subscription (three emails over seven days following your reading request)
• To deliver your Monthly Norse Fate Story each month, if you are a subscriber
• To manage your subscription, process payments, and respond to billing inquiries
• To respond to questions or requests you send to us directly
• To understand aggregate usage patterns through analytics (no individual profiling)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Email Communications

When you submit your email address to receive your free Birth Rune reading, you are also opting in to receive a three-email nurture sequence over the following seven days. These emails introduce the Monthly Norse Fate Story subscription and include one reading preview for your specific Viking sign.

Subscribers receive one Monthly Norse Fate Story per month, delivered on or before the first of each month. Occasional service emails (billing confirmations, subscription changes, responses to your enquiries) are sent as needed — these are not marketing emails and will continue for as long as you hold an active subscription.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send. Unsubscribing from marketing emails will not cancel your subscription; to cancel your subscription, visit your subscriber portal or contact us directly.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate Esoteric Viking. Each has its own privacy policy governing its data practices.

• Stripe — Payment processing for subscription billing. Stripe processes and stores your payment information in accordance with PCI DSS standards. Stripe Privacy Policy
• ConvertKit / Beehiiv — Email delivery platform. Your email address and name are stored on this platform to enable reading and saga delivery. ConvertKit Privacy Policy
• Google Analytics 4 — Website analytics. Aggregate usage data is collected using cookies. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies

Our website uses the following cookies:

• ev_lang — Stores your language preference (English or Portuguese) to avoid asking on every visit. This cookie is essential to the reading experience and cannot be disabled without affecting site function.
• Google Analytics cookies — Used to collect aggregate data about website visits. These are analytics cookies and can be disabled through your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out tool.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels for ad retargeting, or any cookies that collect information about your behaviour across other websites.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services. Specifically:

• Email addresses of non-subscribers (free reading only) are retained for up to 12 months following the last email interaction, after which they are removed from our email list.
• Subscriber information (email, name, subscription history) is retained for the duration of the subscription and for 24 months following cancellation, to enable account recovery and comply with applicable billing record requirements.
• Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations, typically seven years.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — You may request that inaccurate information be corrected.
• Deletion — You may request that your personal information be deleted. Note that deletion of your email address will end your subscription and remove your reading history.
• Portability — You may request that your personal information be provided in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — You may object to the processing of your personal information for marketing purposes at any time by unsubscribing from our emails.

Residents of the European Economic Area have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Residents of Brazil have additional rights under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD). Residents of California have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These additional rights are honoured upon request.

Children's Privacy

Esoteric Viking is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify active subscribers by email. Your continued use of our services after a policy change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
